Activity Summary

Patients with biventricular failure in critical cardiogenic shock or with advanced heart failure may need emergent, temporary mechanical circulatory support, durable mechanical circulatory support or a heart transplant. Participants increase their ability to advocate for the optimal escalation of care for these patients.

Objectives

  • Describe the function of temporary and durable mechanical circulatory support devices for patients needing biventricular support.
  • Differentiate criteria for implantation of biventricular temporary and durable mechanical circulatory support devices.
