There is a gap in defining what makes recognition meaningful. The neuroscience behind reward, connection and gratitude is noted to influence behavior. Dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin, sometimes called the happy hormones, have long been associated with the feeling of gratitude. Join us and learn about one organization’s approach to creating a recognition program based in gratitude science, and practical applications to improve nurse engagement and retention.

Objectives

  • Identify the gaps in literature related to meaningful recognition.
  • Identify the role of happy hormones in prosocial behaviors.
