This session describes the creation and implementation of a tiered resuscitation education program designed to prepare interprofessional team members in managing cardiac arrest events throughout all levels of care within the acute care setting. We discuss how evidence-based guidelines in resuscitation are incorporated into a multitiered system to support individual and team-based training to recognize patient deterioration and life sustaining interventions during cardiac arrest.

Objectives

  • Describe components of a resuscitation education program including curriculum development, instructional methods and assessment tools.
  • Discuss how tiered-based education and training effects individual and interprofessional team preparedness.
