Activity Summary

Patient and family engagement in care improves crucial clinical outcomes during high-acuity illness. However, allocating time and energy to engage patients and families often strains nurses’ resources. In this session, attendees analyze a video case study and design realistic interventions to balance patient and family needs with nurses’ capacity for safe care. Technological innovations and evidence-based tools are highlighted. Attendees gain communication tips and time-saving strategies to lighten workloads and create a dance of engagement supported at all organizational levels.
