Activity Summary

Brain and spine pathologies may be mysterious and intimidating to ICU nurses who must use their critical thinking and assessments of their patients to monitor stability. This session uses case studies to highlight different neurologic pathologies and present specific strategies depending on the disease process. This enables the ICU nurse to take their neuro skills to the next level.

Objectives

  • Identify key components of the advanced comprehensive neurologic exam.
  • Relate neuro assessment parameters to specific neurologic pathologies.
  • Devise patient management strategies to manage the dynamic nervous system disorder.
