Activity Summary

This session emphasizes four key themes: 1) Practical, take-home actions regarding sepsis prevention, recognition, pathogenesis and management 2) Effective methods to implement sepsis programs 3) Improved learning through engagement, which includes new technologies in learning; technologies to improve learning include AI, VR, computer-based platforms and audience participation 4) The patient experience, highlighted through the participation of a sepsis survivor. Nurses are provided tangible ways to prevent and manage sepsis while also better understanding the patient experience.

Objectives

Describe how new learning technologies can better achieve behavior change in clinicians.
Explain why the Surviving Sepsis guidelines need to be considered in the context of individual patient needs and new evidence.
Discuss the impact of sepsis on patients who survive sepsis.
