Activity Summary

This session emphasizes four key themes: 1) Practical, take-home actions regarding sepsis prevention, recognition, pathogenesis and management 2) Effective methods to implement sepsis programs 3) Improved learning through engagement, which includes new technologies in learning; technologies to improve learning include AI, VR, computer-based platforms and audience participation 4) The patient experience, highlighted through the participation of a sepsis survivor. Nurses are provided tangible ways to prevent and manage sepsis while also better understanding the patient experience.

Objectives

  • Describe how new learning technologies can better achieve behavior change in clinicians.
  • Explain why the Surviving Sepsis guidelines need to be considered in the context of individual patient needs and new evidence.
  • Discuss the impact of sepsis on patients who survive sepsis.
