Activity Summary

As ICUs focus on creating and sustaining healthy work environments (HWE), it becomes important to utilize the HWE framework as a guiding principle for developing new-graduate critical care nurses. Through the creation of Critical Care Boot Camp, it is possible to sustain the HWE. This session explores how to use and create a week dedicated to critical thinking and nursing skill to engrain HWE principles into daily practice.

Objectives

  • Explain how at least one Health Work Environment principles can be integrated into a new-graduate orientation.
  • Analyze organizational readiness to integrate a new-graduate orientation that includes components of a HWE.
  • Outline at least one active learning strategy that promotes the development of competent nurses and HWE principles.
