Activity Summary

Nurses are adept at leading others to resources, from patient care to mentoring peers. However, they often overlook their own leadership journey. This session addresses ways to develop leadership skills while enhancing practice environments. Using the AACN’s Framework for Governance Leadership positions, we identify key skills and competencies essential for building a leadership vision. Participants also explore the process of creating a personalized leadership template.

Objectives

  • Identify leadership skills and competencies needed to lead from any practice setting.
  • Describe personal strengths and potential growth areas to maximize leadership capacity.
  • Formulate a personal template for professional growth.
