Activity Summary

Healthy work environments (HWEs) are necessary for staff to be able to perform effective patient care. What may be important from a leadership perspective may not be what is beneficial for staff to do their job effectively. This is where the necessity for inclusion and meaningful recognition becomes apparent. Including staff in decision-making and solution-based problem-solving has a ripple effect on the direct work the staff does. Providing meaningful recognition fosters positive outcomes for staff and patients.

Objectives

  • Devise strategies for enhancing workplace cohesion, communication and recognition.
  • Differentiate between meaningful recognition in a workplace, and lack thereof.
  • Propose a set of ideas with the intent of initiating the process of an HWE if needed.
