Healthy work environments (HWEs) are essential for all aspects of nursing. However, many nurses are either unaware of the AACN HWE Standards or uncertain about how to implement them. By the end of this session, learners understand the significance of healthy work environments, how to assess their own work environment and be prepared to take action.

Objectives

  • Describe AACN’s six essential standards of healthy work environments.
  • Discuss the evidence and associated outcomes supporting the use of the AACN Healthy Work Environment framework.
  • Outline strategies to implement the AACN HWE framework and measure its impact on work culture and patient outcomes.
