Activity Summary

This year marks the first edition of the AACN Standards for Appropriate Staffing in Adult Progressive Care and AACN Scope and Standards for Progressive Care Nursing Practice. This session reviews the development and purpose of these foundational standard-setting documents for guiding progressive care nursing practice. Nursing actions supporting implementation of the standards and implications for practice are discussed.

  • Describe the role of professional nursing organizations in setting standards.
  • Identify clinical practice situations that warrant application of professional organization standards.
  • List three actions you can take to support implementing AACN’s progressive care standards.
