Description

The AACN Level of Evidence (LOE) workgroup presents a revised version of the 2014 LOE tool to support member needs to translate rapidly evolving evidence for nursing practice. This important session covers three new tools: a current LOE hierarchy including both research and non-research sources, a new critical appraisal tool to identify the strength of evidence and a synthesis method to inform decision-making for evidence-based practice. Members of the AACN LOE workgroup present the new AACN LOE tools, discuss supporting evidence informing the revisions and apply case studies using the new tools.

  • Review the new AACN LOE tools including terminology for appraising and synthesizing evidence.
  • Explain the research that informs the decisions behind the new AACN LOE tools.
  • Apply case studies using the new AACN LOE tools in clinical practice or as a contributor, author or reader of AACN products.
