Webinar Summary

COVID-19 has overwhelmed hospitals, threatened our physical and mental well-being, and revealed the flaws in our health care system. AACN has long championed implementation of the “Standards for Establishing and Sustaining Healthy Work Environments” (HWE) as a key priority in empowering acute and critical care nurses to make their optimal contribution. During a time of crisis, do these same HWE standards still apply?

Join nurse leader and AACN past president Vicki Good for a webinar presentation exploring the relationship between work environment and nurse well-being, particularly in the context of crisis mode. You will learn about the six HWE standards and the challenges of implementing them during COVID-19. Equally important, you will learn specific strategies for contributing to an HWE that bring you and your colleagues together — rather than pulling you apart — during this difficult time.

Objectives

  • Discuss the relationship between work environment and nurse well-being.
  • Describe the challenges of attending to the health of the work environment during a crisis.
  • Identify at least three actions that nurses can take to help promote a healthy work environment during a crisis.
