Webinar Summary

As a continuing worldwide health challenge, sepsis remains a priority focus for bedside clinicians and medical science. High sepsis mortality rates persist, particularly for patients with organ dysfunction. In this webinar, clinical nurse specialist and sepsis expert Maureen Seckel will review the newest updates to the “International Guidelines for Management of Sepsis and Septic Shock” and help you translate them for your nursing practice. Published by the Surviving Sepsis Campaign — a partnership between the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine and the Society of Critical Care Medicine these guidelines are widely recognized as best practice in caring for patients diagnosed with sepsis and septic shock. Seckel, who contributed to the updated guidelines on behalf of AACN, will discuss how the changes build on prior knowledge, integrating additional science on the pathology of sepsis with evidence-based interventions. Release of the Guidelines is expected in fall of 2021.
