Premier conference for critical care nurses opens registration

American Association of Critical-Care Nurses opens registration for 2016 National Teaching Institute & Critical Care Exposition, May 16-19, New Orleans

ALISO VIEJO, Calif.
 — Feb. 9, 2016 — The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) invites nurses and other healthcare professionals who care for high acuity and critically ill patients and their families to its 2016 National Teaching Institute & Critical Care Exposition (NTI) in New Orleans, May 16-19, with preconferences May 15.

The premier annual event for critical care nursing, NTI is one of the 50 fastest growing trade shows in America in both event attendance and exhibitors, as ranked by Trade Show Executive magazine. The conference offers hundreds of sessions to improve clinical practice, patient outcomes and the hospital’s bottom line with a comprehensive program that incorporates the best evidence-based education.

In addition to emerging trends in patient care, NTI sessions will focus on best practices, advances in medical technology and many other issues facing those in the healthcare profession.

“Last year I went to my first NTI, and it was amazing to see nurses excited about the ICU care they provide,” said Gabriela Paniagua, RN, in the cardiothoracic surgery intensive care unit (ICU) at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. “As a certification champion, I learned so much going to sessions focused on certification best practices. I was encouraged to bring courageous care to my patients and work setting.”

Most of the 280-plus sessions will take place at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, with the nearby Sheraton New Orleans Hotel also hosting official events.

The Advanced Practice Institute, integrated into NTI, has more than 55 sessions with content including, preconferences, clinical sessions, leadership role development, pharmacology and mastery sessions, specifically developed for advanced practice nurses.

NTI, the world’s largest conference for nurses who care for high acuity and critically ill patients, includes the Critical Care Exposition, the largest and most comprehensive trade show expressly for acute and critical care nurses. There will be more than 400 exhibits spread over 300,000 square feet that encompass cutting-edge healthcare equipment, devices, supplies and career opportunities.

Participants can earn up to 34 hours of continuing education (CE) during NTI. CE hours — calculated on a 60-minute contact hour — are determined by the number of sessions a participant attends.

As an added value, attendees will receive online access to approximately 170 recorded sessions from NTI 2016, previous conferences and certification review courses. These materials will extend the on-site learning offered during the conference and be available through July 31. The complete conference program with all educational sessions and special events offered in New Orleans is available online at www.aacn.org/nti.
