End Workplace Violence

Urge Congressional Leaders to Support the Workplace Violence Prevention for Health Care and Social Workers Act

In a bipartisan move, the House Education and Labor Committee has advanced H.R. 1195, the Workplace Violence Prevention for Health Care and Social Workers Act out of committee. AACN has joined with the Nursing Community Coalition to urge House leadership to bring this bill to the floor for a vote.

This bill will allow the Secretary of Labor to issue an interim standard on workplace violence prevention that requires employers in the health care and social service sectors to develop and implement a comprehensive workplace violence prevention plan. It also requires the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to create enforceable safety standards by 2025.

AACN continues to advocate for a safe and healthy work environment. This legislation aligns with recommendations in our AACN Position Statement: Preventing Violence Against Healthcare Workers. Join us and make your voice heard by sending a message to your federal House of Representatives members in support of this bill.
