Project Goals/Objectives

  1. To decrease the incidence of pressure ulcers hospital-wide (decrease stage III and IV pressure ulcers and HAPUs 50 percent)
  2. To educate 30 percent of RNs on pressure ulcer prevention during Education Fair
  3. To improve and standardize linen use hospital-wide to help prevent pressure ulcers

Project Outcomes

  1. Educated 49 percent of nursing staff at Education Fair
  2. Eliminated linen use of "pink pads," reducing purchasing and laundry costs
  3. Maintained the same pressure ulcer incidence pre- and post-project implementation
  4. These outcomes resulted in a projected annual fiscal impact of $58,113.

The AACN CSI Academy program supports change projects based on quality improvement methods. Although CSI teams seek to ensure linkage between their project and clinical/fiscal outcomes, data cannot be solely attributed to the project and are estimations of impact.
