Provided by the Association for Radiologic & Imaging Nursing (ARIN) and designed for the non-radiology nurse, this video offers an overview of spinal and lumbar procedures performed in interventional radiology. It reviews pre-procedure requirements, including laboratory tests and orders needed before lumbar punctures, myelograms, cisternograms, osteoplasty and lumbar drain placement. Indications, contraindications and potential risks are discussed, along with nursing care, monitoring and documentation during and after these procedures.

Describe at least three procedures performed using lumbar access and their clinical indications.
Identify common laboratory tests and orders required before spinal or lumbar procedures.
