Activity Summary

Tachyarrhythmias can be complicated, and staff nurses frequently identify this as an area of uncertainty. This lecture aims to help build confidence in arrhythmia identification, understanding nurse-driven interventions which can improve patient outcomes and help nurses feel comfortable escalating care or notifying providers of their patient’s change in condition. Case studies reinforce application of the knowledge obtained.

Objectives

  • Evaluate an EKG or telemetry strip and be able to competently differentiate among common tachyarrhythmias.
  • Identify timely nurse driven interventions needed in the management of tachydysrhythmias.
  • List the appropriate steps to escalate treatment and notify providers of the patient's condition.
