Nomination Criteria and Eligibility

Circle of Excellence award nominees must be current AACN members and be nominated by a colleague who must also be a current AACN member. Self-nominations are not accepted.

Nominations exemplify the following:

A. Provides measurable pre outcome data and contrasts with post outcome data that reflects transforming thinking, structure and processes to address challenges and remove barriers.
B. Models the key components of the Healthy Work Environment: skilled communication, true collaboration, effective decision making and meaningful recognition. If applicant is at the management level must also demonstrate support of appropriate staffing and authentic leadership.
C. Achieves measurable results that validate the impact of individual leadership contributions to organizational excellence, including influencing and mentoring colleagues.

How to Nominate

  • 1Download the Circle of Excellence Award Information and Application.

  • 2Describe the excellent outcomes achieved by the nominee, exemplifying excellence measured against the three criteria.

  • 3Identify two other people — a leader and another colleague the nominee works with — who can also respond to the nominees’ excellent practice.

  • 4Submit your complete application by Aug. 1.

  • 5Nominations are reviewed by a volunteer selection committee and notifications are sent by Dec. 31.
