Nomination Criteria and Eligibility

Circle of Excellence award nominees must be current AACN members and be nominated by a colleague who must also be a current AACN member. Self-nominations are not accepted.

Nominations exemplify the following:

Relentlessly promote patient-driven excellence

Model skilled communication, true collaboration, effective decision making and meaningful recognition

Transform thinking, structures and processes to address challenges and remove barriers to advance patient-driven excellence

Enrich their own and other organizations by influencing and mentoring others in achieving excellence

Further AACN's mission and key initiatives at influential forums

Achieve visible results that validate the impact of individual leadership contribution to organizational excellence

How to Nominate

  • 1Download the Circle of Excellence program information, individual nomination, and overview summary and criteria evaluation forms.

  • 2Describe the excellent outcomes achieved by the nominee, exemplifying excellence measured against the six criteria.

  • 3Identify two other people — a leader and another colleague the nominee works with — who can also respond to the nominees’ excellent practice.

  • 4Submit your materials all at once between May 15 and Aug. 1.

  • 5Nominations are reviewed by a volunteer selection committee and notifications are sent by Dec. 31.
